Truely you are right.”.m” is so handy than “.mobi”.

Sometimes they are useful to use desktop also as they are pure HTML and tiny-sized. I use m.facebook.com frequently as net speed is a sloth here in Bangladesh.

You’re right- that was a bad example! (BBC.co.uk uses BBC.co.uk/mobile, then uses browser sniffing to decide which version of the page to serve.)

Actually, m.bbc.co.uk doesn’t currently work, though I’ve just asked that to change. Any better info on this emerging standard?

This tries to take into account device capabilities, user choice, differing services and so on – hopefully the gist of what you were getting at.

Incidentally, one would be foolish to use DeviceAtlas simply to be able to do this. A simple code-based switcher will suffice (and that’s what we do in part II of the article)
